I was L&D for 19 years in a big hospital that delivered about 400-450 babies a month and shit can go so south so fast.

I worked as a unit coordinator on L&D for approximately slightly less than 2 years. Not clinical, just admin. I knew the basics of reading a strip within a couple months on the job just from pattern recognition. I would have known that a flat line followed by 3 deep decels indicated a medical emergency. There is no excuse in the world why a L&D nurse would not recognize the fetal distress.

When did the anesthesiologist/CRNA called in? Or were they in house? Also, what type of anesthetic was used? Seems like the nurses let the ball drop in not reporting appropriately and continuing to increase the pitocin in light of the distress on the monitors.
