Where I go when I need a reset 🏕️💕✨🏔️ Nothing more perfect to me than a morning in the Sierra Nevada!!! Waking up here after hiking 17 miles and 5,500 feet of gain was such a treat. We ate, we slept, we hiked around, and then hiked 10 more miles to the next lake later this day. In my eyes, that is the most perfect reset for the mind and soul One thing I can’t ignore: The night we slept at this lake, there was a group of guys camped nearby… and they made our night before this pretty awful. They built a campfire in a fire-banned area (even after we told them about the fire ban), and played loud music until 1 am… I honestly was so stunned that this was even happening… I couldn’t believe that we had hiked all this way out here, to a place where I have wanted to camp for years, and we spent our night out here listening to their music and watching their fire instead of the listening to the sounds of nature…. To be honest, this whole trip, we watched people camp in illegal sites, set up their tents right next to lakes, have campfires, and more, and it was really disheartening. I love sharing our trips here, but I also firsthand have experienced amazing places like this getting shut down because people don’t respect them… I think I will make another video talking about this, because I have a lot of thoughts, but most importantly: It is a gift that we get to experience places like this, and they can be taken away from us in an instant. It is all of our responsibilities to take care of these spaces, and learn how to leave no trace, which means respecting nature, respecting wildlife, and respecting others around us.
