Bird Chop Recipe 🦜🥗 First, I gathered all my bird-safe vegetables. I used purple cauliflower, broccoli, pimentos, kale, sweet peppers, corn, peas, green beans, pumpkin, and some fresh microgreens. I washed everything thoroughly and chopped the veggies into chunks so they’d be easier to process. Then I added them to my electric chopper and pulsed until I got a nice, fine consistency… perfect for easy eating. Next, I prepared my quinoa. I used tricolor quinoa and made sure to wash it really well first to remove the natural bitter coating. After rinsing, I set it aside to drain. I brought a pot of water to a boil and added rosemary, thyme, and basil for some natural aromatics. Once the water was boiling, I added in the quinoa and let it cook. When the quinoa was fully cooked, I added in the chopped vegetables and allowed them to lightly steam. This step is important because it helps reduce any bacteria and also makes the veggies much gentler on your bird’s digestive system. Once everything was lightly steamed, I mixed it all together, then strained off any excess moisture and left it to cool completely. After it cooled, I plated it up. I added some soaked chia seeds, sprinkled crushed cashew nuts, and mixed in a little golden flaxseed powder for extra nutrition. To finish, I garnished with some fresh fruit… watermelon and strawberry, added microgreens on the side, and topped it off with a few cherry peppers. Note… once a week I like to add in an egg, either when I’m cooking the food or I boil it separately. Sometimes I also add crushed eggshells for calcium. I grind it down into a fine powder and mix it into the pot with the veggies. And that’s it… a fresh, nutritious bird chop your feathered baby will love! 🦜💚 #birdtok #parrotsoftiktok #parrotlove #birdfood
