WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump said Saturday that he is rejecting Iran’s latest proposal aimed at reopening the Strait of Hormuz and reducing hostilities, saying the terms offered by Tehran are unacceptable. Asked by a reporter whether the United States would strike Iran after the November midterm elections, Trump did not directly answer the question. Instead, he confirmed his rejection of the current proposal, saying Iran wants an agreement because, in his assessment, it is “losing so badly.” Iran’s proposal, transmitted to Washington through Qatari mediators, would begin a seven-day process toward reopening the Strait of Hormuz and pausing regional hostilities.
