I'm not sure if I'm correct, but I went to the jellycats website and the gargoyle is not the first one that pops up, it actually takes a few scrolls to get to it. so my guess, and this is just my theory, is that he took his time and picked the gargoyle for you but was worried that you aren't going to like it, so he down played the effort so you won't think he feels bad if you don't like it. He can play it off as I'm sorry, it was the first one I saw.

My husband told me to go out to his truck, very excitedly. I stood there staring inside of this truck for like 10 mins like what the fuck am I lookin for. He excitedly tells me “THE BROOM”. This man was excited he got a hand held straw broom from work he asked for another to give me. He said I could use it for decoration or something. Yes I love my broom.
