Did you know that your driving licence carries 15 points, which may be deducted for certain road traffic offences? Under the Road Traffic (Drivers Licence Point System) Regulations, 2014, G.N. No. 109 of 2014, as amended by G.N. No. 420 of 2025, an offence may result in a deduction of 1 or 3 points, depending on the offence. Under the Regulations, once the points reach zero, the driving licence is suspended for six months. Remember: Deduction of points does not replace any fine or other penalty applicable to the offence.
