@the_jwl: Play CDM and want to stand out in your position? ⚽️ Being a great CDM isn’t just about winning the ball. You need to be able to receive under pressure, progress the play, protect possession and constantly communicate. Here are 4 areas to master: ⚽ 1. Receive on the half turn Scan before the ball arrives, stay on your toes and adjust your movement depending on the pass. Your first touch should help transition the ball from defence into attack. ⚽ 2. Develop your passing range Don’t just master the 5-yard pass. Work on grasscutters and pinged passes over longer distances so you can switch the play and find teammates across the pitch. ⚽ 3. Absorb & escape pressure Protect the ball with your furthest foot and use your body to shield it. When the pressure arrives, be comfortable twisting and turning away using movements like the Zidane or De Jong turn. ⚽ 4. Communicate constantly Tell teammates what’s around them, where the pressure is coming from and where you want the ball. Good communication can make everyone around you more effective. The key? Scan.
