@sndrstln28: So apparently, the internet is discovering the naked women in the Voynich Manuscript… And then this suddenly appeared in my camera roll. Except… this wasn't centuries ago. This was us. Last year. A gathering of women, naked, unashamed, and completely free. This moment was never forced. The mother of the community asked first because she felt called to be naked in that moment—to simply be free. And somehow, the energy she carried gave the rest of us permission to listen to that same feeling within ourselves. No one was pressured. No one was expected to participate. It just happened. And honestly, this was the moment I thought: “Oh. I found my people.” Because before this, I had already been in an all-women gathering where I chose to remove some of my clothes. But I remember feeling ashamed. And I remember thinking, Wait… aren't we all women here? Why do I still feel like I have to hide? That thought stayed with me. So when this happened, something felt completely different. I realized, Oh. These are my people. This is where I belong. I've been comfortable being naked at home for years. It's just part of how I am, especially because wearing clothes all day can feel overwhelming for me sometimes. But being comfortable in your own space is one thing. Feeling completely unashamed around other people is another. And somehow, in this retreat called Reclamación—reclaiming—I felt a part of myself being reclaimed too. The part that didn't want to hide. The part that wanted to be free. The part that just wanted to exist without judgment. And now, with the Voynich Manuscript suddenly making its rounds online, I randomly found this footage sitting in my gallery. I was literally planning to start documenting my experiments and research around the Voynich Manuscript… And then I found this. Maybe it's just coincidence. But I'm taking it as a little sign. Because people are looking at these strange images from centuries ago and asking what they mean. And meanwhile, here's something from my own camera roll reminding me that women gathering, shedding shame, and finding freedom together isn't necessarily a new idea.
