WHY HERE 👇🏻 Mothers are nurturers, the protectors in a very maternal way. Of course we are, because that’s how we’re meant to be. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with being this way, but it doesn’t hurt to have self awareness around this too ⬇️ 🏃Children also need to be challenged, played with roughly & disciplined. It’s a vital part of them developing into independent people, survivors. Dad’s are great at teaching this. They give an entirely different take on parenting, equipping children for “the real world” where mummy can’t always be there to protect. We need to learn to trust our men (in a healthy relationship). 🪑So often what mothers do is sit on the edge of our seat, watching our partner play with the children in an unsophisticated way; roughly & boisterously. We start to worry, we’re skeptical of our partners ability or intent not to harm them, even accidentally. So we interfere. Tell our husbands to stop, be careful, don’t do it like that. 🙅🏼‍♀️Everytime he tries to connect & build a relationship in a natural, masculine way, we intervene. To us we feel we’re doing what’s best for the child according to our natural instincts, to a man it feels like we’re telling them they’re wrong. Over & over & over. How many times can someone try to connect & bond, attempt to do the right thing but be told “no” & feel punished for their efforts before they give up. Then us being clueless wonder “why doesn’t he pay any attention to the kids?”. 🥺Because… everytime he tries, we undermine his authority as a parent, undermine his confidence & his good intent to dominate the situation & tell him to stop. It’s no wonder. He tried, but we couldn’t let him learn for himself. We couldn’t trust him with the ‘cargo’ that’s equally as precious & important to him. Let’s encourage fatherly bonding & trust our partners to look after their children, respect that their role is different to ours & that’s okay! 📷photographer: @pribarbosaphoto 💡Post inspo: @jordan.b.peterson 📲SHARE with another parent 📲FOLLOW @journeyofanhonestmum for more parent & twin content #parenting #parentlife #dads #twins #aussiemums #parentingtips #dadlife #mumlife
