The cop had zero reason to detain the guy for practicing his fourth amendment right in a public place. The post office is a public place and is paid for by the taxpayers. Therefore, you can legally record in there . If people do not want to be recorded in public places, they should not be in public. not to mention if you ask a officer their name and badge number or their name and identifying number they legally have to give it to you because they are a servant of the public . If there was no crime committed then no you do not need to identify yourself if you so choose to identify yourself that’s on you. The cops in Kooteney County and Coeur d’Alene Idaho are an absolute joke and do not know the constitution and clearly continue to harass citizens on a regular basis. They are one of the most corrupt organizations in this area and it’s sad that the general public are that uneducated when it comes to their legal rights as a United States citizen.
