I'm sorry, but I completely disagree with you. Carl Jung was thrown away by Freud. He went to such a deep, dark place inside of his own psyche, that's how he figured out how to overcome. it came from a place of experience

Man I truly love your takes. I disagree but I do see the point you are trying to claim. The shadow, archetypes and his ultimate analysis of self derived from going to places like Africa, like India and experiencing many different cultures and societies. His young self was infatuated with Hinduism and other polytheistic religions. I think narrowing his research to him simply being a "white man" and therefore his work was unable to manifest in people of different cultures, races or religions is a purposefully done omission to make a point that white people are disconnected from other cultures. And in general this is sooo true but in this instance I dont think you've either done enough research or are purposefully driving others away from exploring his concepts.

Talking about early philosophers and psychologists is pretty pointless outside of historical context. Our understanding has evolved so much since then. I had a philosophy PhD friend who talked constantly about Wittgenstein (a famous philosopher), but the guy was talking about colours without knowing about cone cells in the retina. She was astounded when I explained them to her! So we need to move on from Jung, and Freud, and Wittgenstein, and maybe even Marx. There are more evolved ideas out there.

I’ve always thought that labeling one aspect of persona as male or female was ridiculous. If I like cuddling kittens and puppies that’s feminine? Or baseball that’s masculine? Science used to be considered a masculine pursuit. Even saying a guy should explore his feminine side is saying that certain aspects belong to woman more than men. I’m basically of the view that anyone should have any “aspect” they want without having it belong to sex.

I think we limit our understanding of Jung by placing morality, conditioning, and belief systems that are coming into awareness of our modern consciousness. We can break the cycles of our own limitations by removing expectations of all by recognizing them in their context. It is up to us to move beyond his limitations and not adopt them as own our.
