@perkinsights: Every time I’m in El Salvador, I ask my drivers the same questions: What was your life like five years ago? And what is it like today? The stories I hear are remarkably consistent. They tell me about gangs checking their IDs to see what neighborhood they were from, and the fear of being caught in the wrong one. They tell me about carrying two phones because someone could simply walk up and take one. They tell me about businesses having to pay gangs just to keep their businesses from being destroyed. So then I ask a simple question: How do you feel today? The answer I keep hearing: “Free.” When you want to understand what has changed in a country, it’s worth listening to the people who live and work there every day. #ElSalvador #CentralAmerica #DigitalAssets #Bitcoin
