I teach adult English and trust me the people that come to class do want to learn English just like my grandparents came here and had no English and had to learn English. her language skills from her country are very different than Latin language countries like Spanish, Italian and French. they never really can fully assimilate the same thing with polish and German, so I think you have to appreciate that assimilation is cultural more than it is linguistic. she certainly had a lot of time to learn how to spend money and integrate herself in American society. I don't know if she has donated any money to charity, which is much more of a priority to me and if she's taught her child too
