@that.labor.nurse: As a Labor & Delivery nurse, I have seen some WILD things in the delivery room…but the day a patient’s “support person” held her leg through delivery, got the matching baby bracelet, and THEN we found out they had just met while she was out shopping that morning?! 😭😂 You truly cannot make up some of these L&D nurse stories. #LaborAndDelivery #LaborAndDeliveryNurse #NurseStorytime #BirthStory #PregnancyTikTok
I delivered my first when you room shared with 1 other woman. I shared a room with a really nice woman who’s husband was military and stationed in our area, she had no family close by, just a few work friends and had given birth a month early. She had absolutely nothing for her baby. At that time we didn’t have ultrasounds. I had been given 4 showers, I had both boy and girl stuff, way more than we needed and I had a girl. I told my husband to bring all their boy things and any other items we had extra of to the hospital. Unbeknownst to me, my husband had told my large family and his about this woman, that afternoon at visiting hours people from both sides of our family showed up with gifts for her, even a bassinet! We literally gave a complete stranger a baby shower during visiting hours.

I was 14, and alone when I went to be induced. I was alone during labor, and a student nurse noticed that, left her rotation, and was with me the entire time. I will always be thankful for her.

My Dad was a taxi driver when he was 18 (in Australia in the 50's) and he picked up a lady who was actively giving birth. He was driving at 100km an hour along the tram tracks, got pulled over by the police, he said "look in the back seat!!! You drive and I'll get in the back and help her" He delivered the baby just as they got to the hospital (dad was a farm boy). He got her situated, family bought her lots of baby items and they kept in touch for 50 years.

I accompanied a woman to the labor room and didn’t know her at all, we met in the hospital waiting area. I brought my mother in-law for an eye examination. She sent me a picture of the baby’s first day in school two weeks ago.

My uncle was a limo driver who also delivered flowers. Delivered flowers to my aunt in the hospital, alone in full labour. He stayed and they have now been married for 30 years.

I had a “dad” that ended up being the taxi driver. He felt sorry for her being alone!

when I had my son in 2005 in a small hospital I had to share a room with another lady. I was only 18 and she was around 30 having her 2nd child. well my husband couldn't stay over night with me cus of room sharing. so my mom stayed with me. well this lady never had any visitors, had a c-section, was in pain and hard to move around. my mom helped her amd me the whole time. she held my son and her son at the same time. my mom watched all the videos we had to watch while we both slept. that momma cried and thanked my mom so much when it was time for her to be released. oh and my husband brought her and me flowers and gifts and snacks. and all my family that came for visits would hold her baby to.

In the military I knew a girl who wasn’t going to have anyone there for her delivery. So I and another girl stepped up to be there for her. I will never forget it. I have had three kids but all by c-section. Seeing a baby be delivered is so emotional and absolutely miraculous.
