I totally agree about demystifying genders different to one’s own. As a queer person, it’s particularly frustrating to me that people still treat different genders as though they are different species. How can you possibly get together in an intimate relationship while holding this bioessentialist perspective on another gender? If the person you’re interested in is “too alien” to even relate to, how are you supposed to actually work as a partnership? That’s why seemingly innocuous phrases like “you know how guys are” or “it must be a girl thing” or “boys are more…” really really bothers me. It’s not good for progress or interpersonal relationships and these generalizations are false anyways.
