@v8rolll: Hearing a giant V24 diesel wake up from cold is a sound most people will never hear in person. Twenty-four cylinders coughing into life at once turns a quiet field into a thunderstorm. 🔊🔥⚓ V24 engines are extremely rare, with two banks of twelve cylinders sharing one crankshaft. Most are really two V12s joined end to end, built for boats, locomotives and power stations rather than cars. For scale, Detroit Diesel's 24V71 made around 2,000hp from 27.9 litres. The biggest V24 still in production, the Jenbacher J624 gas engine, displaces a huge 149.7 litres and powers electricity generators.
