@drwendy_physicaltherapy: All that widespread joint pain, tendinopathy, increased arthritis, and random pains do have the potential to increase during the menopause transition. 70% of women will experience these symptoms and 25% will be disabled by them. This list is taken from Wright et al. 2024, I will put the citation below. You can access the full text to this PDF for free. You can save, read it, share it with your MD, PT, PA and whoever else needs to know. Long story short: you have estrogen (and progesterone) receptors all over your body. This is why symptoms of menopause are so diverse. There are receptors in so many places! If this is news to you, welcome my friend. It’s news to so many people. You were always meant to change, I just want you to know you have to change a few habits during this time to support your joints, tendons and muscles. We have to be intentional now, what we do can save future us from muscle loss, bone loss and help our weenie tendons. Wright, V. J., Schwartzman, J. D., Itinoche, R., & Wittstein, J. (2024). The musculoskeletal syndrome of menopause. Climacteric, 27(5), 466–472. #jointpain #menopause #greenscreen

If you are still achy on estradiol and progesterone, could that potentially mean we have to up our estradiol dose?

I turned 35 and got joint pain, hand pain, rosacea, eczema, itchy ears, night sweats, hot flashes, crunchy shoulders…. All at the same time. But apparently I’m too young to be in perimenopause!

I had breast cancer at 52. No muscle aching or hurting. Got rid of the cancer and started taking tamoxifen and it kicked me into menopause and I’m miserable. So much leg, hip and foot pain. I can’t take HRT because of the cancer. I’m glad I found your page because my oncologist just tells me oh well you just have to deal with it.

It can feel overwhelming! Progesterone and topical magnesium helped me sleep better, which gave me the energy to weight train. Tiny steps to feel better for sure
