one of my pet peeves is when ppl say they “work with” or wanna work with this and that god/goddess. like bro. you don’t work with them, you work for them. they’re gods/goddesses, and you’re a human, we are not their equals like that.

As a Hekatean witch, something that has really helped me was to kind of approach these deities like they are my grandma's/grandpa's friend(to imagine that, ygwim?): they are willing to help, but a lott of respect is needed! They are older, wiser, kind, but can still be angry and disappointed.

I sometimes CRY, literally SHED TEARS when i sometimes talk to my deities bcs of a mix of nervousness to talk to them and awe of the act of talking to them I cannot think of seeing them as a "friend" 😭

I just wanna add the fact that Loki reached out to me recently and started fucking up my playing cards deck (yes I don t have a tarot deck yet) and I asked him respectfully to let my other deities (AKA Lady Aphrodite and Lord Apollon) take over and I got 67 not two seconds later. (a 6 of hearts and 7 of diamonds - smth like that) Moral of the story: that can happen too (and yes there was A LOT of negotiation going on)

For 9. I try my best as a beginner witch with my deity’s Im still trying to figure out how to communicate them so if all I can do as of right now is light a candle for them. I don’t see the problem in that. What’s the problem with that? The only creator I’ve seen with this argument. it’s hard for me to understand why that would be a problem. This is true for deities and what I call “superior spirits” like the Lwa, Orisha and other such named spirits. But there are lesser spirits and entities who do operate on a sort of “friendship or coworker” relationship with human practitioners.

I don’t know if this video is about pagan pantheons specifically, but Hindu deities you can actually treat them as your friends, since there are many flavors of devotion. You can even talk, fight, cry with your deity
