We use Fast1 in training as Navy Corpsman with Marine Corps. Some Corpsman and Marines volunteer to get fluids via Fast1 while conscious.

They did that to my poor dad, called 911, they came took his vein gave him some med and said they wouldn't take him to the hospital because they all were packed with covid patients, dad had an infection, rescue said to wait until Monday, it was Saturday around midnight, they "stabilized" him and left, an hour later I call 911 again, same rescue team came and had to do that, my dad died two weeks later, he most probably would've been alive today had they taken him the first time they came. It will be 6 years since he left us on Oct 20, 2026. Good father, great man, miss him every moment. I look forward to seeing him again, he didn't deserve that end.

Nothing to do with “not enough time”. It’s about no peripheral access cause veins are useless.

The IO itself isn’t painful surprisingly as barbaric it looks. What hurts is the fluid and medication going in. That’s why you need to push lidocaine if the patient is conscious.
