my ex snapped his arm like this but in the opposite direction (and without the hardware) in a car accident by getting his arm caught through the steering wheel before hitting the pole. So when the wheel turned it... y'know... spun like a tilt a whirl. Don't fell too bad for him, it was a dui. 😑

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that bent piece of hardware probably kept the arm from being completely ripped off. those plates take tremendous amount of force to bend. 😱
