Agustín de Iturbide ha sido víctima de una sistemática calumnia y censura en la historia oficial de México, impulsada por intereses políticos que buscaron deslegitimar su papel fundacional para favorecer proyectos republicanos y federalistas contrarios a su visión de una monarquía constitucional e independiente.
