The money isn't that good unless you are working weekend nights and doing overtime.

I went into nursing for financial stability (purely practical decision) and ended up really enjoying it. Love my job, if I had to change something about it, I would have just started sooner (I was 31 when I started nursing school). If you’re not sure, go shadow nurses in a few different types of units.

Please do not go the nursing route just for the financial aspect. Not every nurse makes good money I make 28$ and hour and I know multiple of my colleagues who have a second job after being a nurse because they can’t take care of their families on a nursing salary alone

If finances are a concern - for the love of god go to community college - same exact license, same $$ & almost exact same job opportunities!!!

Don’t spend 4 years becoming a nurse just because you think it’s the only path to financial stability. It isn’t. Rad tech. Sonography. Respiratory therapy. Healthcare administration. And more. Research the pay, schooling, schedule AND what you’ll actually do every day. Choose nursing because nursing makes sense for you—not because you didn’t know what else existed. 🖤

You can soft launch it by working at a hospital, tackle being a CNA would 100% give you a reality check if it’s for you. That way you won’t go into debt/be stuck with a degree you hate after being a nurse for a short time. You’ll also be exposed to to other careers within a hospital that might peak your interest rather than nursing which would be a massive W

If youre not sure about nursing, take lpn/lvn first. Its only a yr and just a fraction of the cost.

It allowed me to buy a house on my own in California at age 25. I know other states aren’t as lucky though to get paid a comfortable wage.

job shadow and volunteer. or get a job working as a cna or somewhere in a hospital. you’ll decide really fast if it’s for you or not lol. but in all seriousness at least job shadow a few times in surgery, on the floor, outpatient if possible, etc.

If it isn’t naturally a passion then it’s most likely not going to work out. I became a MA before pursing nursing to see if that’s something I would like but absolutely not and I’m glad I did. But if you like being in the healthcare field there is many other roles that can you can see if you like as well as make you financially stable.

even if you dont like nursing i promise you there is a broad variety you can go into in nursing you go into public health, clinical health, cardiovascular clinics, cancer clinics, cnos, etc it does not have to be with nursing home people or sick people you can be with normal outpatient people. if that interests you I recommend it. I know its not for everyone

It’s okay to do it for stability, but you also need to enjoy the process and be interested in the work and science. For me, I believe Jesus called us to serve otheres so as tough of a job as it it, at the thesis of it.. I know I’m serving others plus I love science and medicine. If it’s only about money, you’ll quit when it gets hard.
