@multipotetialite:currently undergraduate clinical officers do major surgery eg cesarean sections, ex lap for ectopic pregnancy etc, masters clinical officers do more complex surgeries including Even removal of uterus. all outpatient specialised clinics are handled by co.co hv so far 20 sub speciality and even senior medical team do refer to them including ...emergency medicine, ICU, hdu, supporting heart surgeries, anaesthetist, opthalmology, cataract surgeries, pediatric, orthopaedic, family medicine etc .. only that there is existence of bullying in health care.

Done well Prof. also just add on that clinical officer Will undergo one year internship before registration after 4 years of training. Secondly, clinical Officers can proceed to train to medical officer if well qualified

my nephew scored A WITH 82 POINTS AND WANTED MEDICINE OR PHARMACY BUT WAS NOT TAKEN THERE.INSTEAD HE WAS TAKEN TO DO CHEMICAL ENGINEERING. WHAT IS THIS? SOME SAY IT IS RELATED TO MEDICINE.HOW ? MY NEPHEW IS VERY DISAPOINTED EVEN THOUGH HE IS DOING THAT BECAUSE HE HAR TRIED CHANGING TO NO AVAIL.

At this era ,I advise people to have skills ,you need money.For one to study medicine , clinical medicine, nursing you need a C+.if you have a passion of becoming a medical doctor do it ,like me,but not for a title and thinking it will generate more money than other courses,for abroad jobs avoid medicine ,,do nursing.but remember you need money not a course but also have more skills,never waste years . clinical medicine if specialized can do surgery. otherwise nothing prestigious at this era never be cheated by people who think so.Welcome to medical school.

you forgot to say not all medical officers do surgery others are physicians and consultant anaesthetiologist, consultant peadtrician, consultant psychiatrist. wide scope is not important [Laughing][Laughing][Laughing]

If you scored A just do Medicine and Surgery don't go for a clinical Medicine come what may. You will have a greater scope of practice than a CO. And remember, the government is planning to kill Clinical Medicine course and have only MBCHB refer to that interview of DG of Health Dr Amoth and Dr. Matendechero
