I dont know if it would be useful to you! but I have seen companies that embed your payment cards in to bracelet and other items! could allow you to pay without needing to use your phone and the Face ID.

Might be worth putting your bank card in your phone case see if that makes it any easier for you. Only problem is every so often it asks you to insert card and bob pin in x

I’m a power chair user. In the winter months I have a dryrobe which has so many pockets with a waterproof phone pocket inside. I’d have my purse in one pocket with my card in. A massive backpack on the back and staff in shops would happily help load up my back pack. I can walk just no further then about 150 yards.

What you did wrong with the phone was presenting it to the payment terminal before Face ID had been verified. Solution, ideally do the double tap and Face ID before the cashier asks for payment but always do the Face ID before you present the phone to the reader, then you tap. I believe their machine timed out adding to the problem.

Fantastic 🥰 just in case it's a helpful idea .... I have my phone round my neck with coiled (stretchy) straps so I don't have to take it off to reach the machines.
