@morgana.story.hxx: From Heartbreaking to Unforgettable: Let’s Dive Into The Most Memorable Story Of This Iconic Medical Drama.#Medical #Childrenshospital #Foryoupage #Doctor #Hospital
similar happened to my 1st. first a rash on his cheek (friday) then small clusters on his body. took him to out of hours and diagnosed with chicken pox (saturday) then temp on Sunday so back to out of hours to be told it's the chicken pox. Wednesday my mum came to watch him and said something aint right. rang gp who started shouting at me and saying chicken pox had spread to his brain and ring an ambulance. paramedics blue light us to hospital. suspected meningitis, lumbar puncture confirms it. hes in icu, sedated with wires everywhere and they're telling me hes very poorly whenever I ask if hes gonna be ok, 10 min obs and me and my mum had to have treatment cos we had been close to him. I was heavily pregnant (3 weeks from due date). we came out of hospital 2 weeks later and my son was basically a new born in a 14 month olds body. couldn't even support his own head. I went a week over due so 2 weeks after he comes home I then have a newborn aswell as him. I noticed issues with his hearing. initially diagnosed with moderate to severe hearing loss and given little hearing aids. I was adamant it was worse. more tests and he was diagnosed with bilateral profound neural hearing loss and had an operation at 18 months old to fit cochlear implants. hes 18 in January. the medical negligence claim is still on-going, he has been diagnosed with a chemical imbalance in the brain and autism. there's so much more to it especially the days from false diagnosis to going to hospital on the Wednesday.

This happened to me. Doctors told me my 9 day old daughter was fine. I pushed and it turned out to be meningococcal meningitis. They said if I hadn’t brought her in when I did she’d have di3d. Mum’s ALWAYS know.

If i think my baby is sick - i can still get myself under control. If the mum says there's something wrong - we are going to the emergency room ASAP

My brother was really ill when he was little, my mum took him to the doctors to be told she’s being an over protective mother and it’s just a flu, next day he gotten 10x worse, she took him to the doctors again turns out it was meningitis, we nearly lost him. Mothers are always right

hospital tried to fob me off that my daughter at 10m was fine just a viral, wouldn't do bloods, told me they were discharging her, refused to let me stay so I said fine you cant stop me from sitting in the canteen, its not a ward but its in hospital closer than my house, and I was right she was VERY VERY poorly had to be treated for sepsis, kept in 3 days... i was a good 40min drive from hospital, me staying in the canteen it took 3mins to get her to A&E and I to this day made the outcome what it was

For those who don’t know there is Martha’s rule- this is the ability to ask for a second opinion as a patient, and doctors should get someone else to double check the diagnosis.

a single marker for sepsis in an infant should require a blood test- aka a fever, if an infant had a fever they need a blood test

my meningitis got put away as the flu.
Ended up in the hospital only because my dad recognised the symptoms. At least in my case my gp felt horrible about it and had apologised multiple times about it

The fact that all of them were blaming there mother making her seen irrational or like something is wrong with her mentally. "Awhh just an anxious mother"
People don't stop to actually think and always assume it's just a "mother"
It's sexist.

similar thing happened to me. the GP turned my parents away and said they were overbearing on doctors notes. if they hadn’t taken me to the hospital i would have been dead within two hours.

the only symptom my son had at 2 weeks old was just a temperature. i just thought he had colic. he was in a ward and had tests within 1 hour. he had meningitis and a blood infection. 9 days in the hospital and another week of going in everyday for injections. they told me a few days after diagnosis that it was the worst case they had ever seen however because it was caught early he made a full recovery. worst month of my life but hes a happy and healthy 17month old now 😊
