When I visited during the World Cup, I wanted to grab a burger and watch one of the games, so I went to a local burger place in town. The burger ALONE was $20. No fries, no Coke. Fries were another $5, and I swear they tasted like frozen Walmart fries 😭 Then another $5 for a Coke. So basically $30 before tax and tip for a burger, fries, and a drink. And this wasn’t even really full-service dining. You ordered, picked up your food yourself from the counter and pour your drink yourself from a coke machine thingy, and pretty much served yourself. They did have the game on, but it was on mute and they couldn’t turn the sound up :( The next time, I went to Chili’s instead and got their 3 for Me. Burger AND fries, a Coke, plus chips and salsa or soup, all for $10.99 before tax and tip!!! And at Chili’s I actually had a waiter taking my order, bringing everything to the table, refilling my drink, etc. AND I could sit there and watch the game. Mind you, this was in a WORLD CUP HOST CITY 😭 I was like nahhhh, I’m just coming to Chili’s from now on

Can we finally talk about about when you go to a small local place instead of a chain nearby all happy to support a local place and they’ll be super just unwelcoming. I won’t say rude… but no smile, doesn’t respond to any talk, barely any eye contact, and annoyed tone sometimes when you ask any question, snappy… and you sit there like regretting you went in? 😆
