it's not rebuilding everything from scratch if you have a sensible backup strategy. we export copies of our backups to another location outside the blast radius of our main office. for air gap we back everything up to tape quarterly, encrypted, and sent to a fireproof safe. current gen tape libraries are extremely dense, fast, and reliable. the 3-2-1 rule is still king, and you don't need the cloud for it
