Lately I’ve been doing a lot of work with local businesses and city/county level government and noticed the amount of cooperation with China/friendly attitudes, unlike what I see/hear when on Capitol Hill. Hopefully mutual benefit wins over posturing, but we’ll see

Part of this makes me wonder what actually happened to Americas foreign policy capabilities. Is it an issue that it is dealing with countries more capable of going head to head with it now compared to the Cold War or have their institutions degraded.

If America was serious about defeating China they would have disengaged from the middle east since they started fracking. Trump even asserted that multiple times saying America doesn't need the oil from the straight of Hormuz which is true america is a net exporter of oil. The Venezuela grab was yet another move by trump trying to disengage from the middle east trying to prove that they can secure enough oil without the middle east but that failed too. I think Trump struggling with audience that want everything and commits to nothing. I think it's in America's best interest to disengage from the middle east regardless of their end goal whether to focus more on their hemisphere of influence or commit to china pivot .
