The term Nor’Easter originated in about 1830, and doesn’t come up that often, so I understand not knowing that one, but I thought cornhole was rather ubiquitous

A nor’easter is not just any kind of storm. It’s quite specific. Think of it as a quasi-hurricane… a wind and rain storm spinning around a low pressure. It forms off the coast of in the north east and as the storm moves south the wind blows to the northeast. That’s basically it. (The reason the “th” is dropped is because that’s the accent of people in that part of the country who first named it… just as we routinely drop letters or syllables when we speak)

Coincidentally…I’m an elementary PE teacher, and just finished teaching all my students what cornhole is! They all know now. They used to use corn in the bags instead of beans. Corn bags?
