Calvin McFarlane, aged 29, Andrew Clarke, aged 42, and Alan Dixon, aged 33, were snared following an extensive investigation into encrypted chat networks. Detectives discovered a library of Category A child sexual abuse material depicting the rape and torture of young girls and infants, alongside depraved chat logs. McFarlane and Dixon discussed kidnapping children and raping a young girl on top of a grave in a churchyard, while Clarke chillingly wrote that it would be hard not to kill an infant. Lord Scott told the men that their crimes perpetuated the exploitation and rape of babies and children, with examining officers describing the material as among the most disturbing they had ever witnessed.
