I've finally understood what the burning tyres video is about. The root is about the ownership of the Tunu lands, not a chieftaincy dispute. So it's a land dispute involving caretakers who have been elevated to the status of Chiefs from the "hanuawo" roles they used to be called in the past. And, the real Klevi clan heads with their chief Torgbi Badu IV, by his own admission, failed to do something about the simmering problem when it started, no doubt years ago, until "enya va ɗo efie vo," as my late beloved mum would put it. Now, the new chief is one caught between something he has nothing to do with.
The Klevi clan chiefs and elders should get together and resolve this matter, with assistance from the paramountcy under which they are, of course.
Actually, they aren't the only ones facing such a problem. Other clans have them, too, thanks to their elders abandoning such lands and creeks in the hands of the great grandparents and grandparents of the current caretakers for decades when educated Anlos started leaving Anlo from the 1910s. Some of these people themselves have no clues about their real origins and didn't know that the lands and creeks don't belong to them, either. Not their fault. They also left Anlo very early as young boys or weren't even born at home. It's an intractable problem. Ne nor blewuoo!
One solution I've in mind is that a portion of the lands should be given to them. Going to court to retrieve or claim the lands from them and then begin to sell the land to others, as my own Adzɔvia elders did in one case, is equally bad. I don't support that. In fact, I oppose it in principle, even though I haven't said so before even when I was informed about what was happening. Now, I have said so openly. Eva glo!
