After 34 years I quit, best thing I ever did!! No more corporate bullshit, no more 20 phone calls on my day off. I can actually enjoy life outside of work! Haven’t been able to really do that my entire career. You will do great! Don’t stress a thing.

I was CRUSHED when I got fired for working ✨off✨ the clock from my diner. Now I’m back to retail, but I miss serving. But in both places, corporate is killing their own business.

I'm so very proud of you, Buddy, this is NOT an easy decision. I left after 40 years in F&B and moved into hotel sales. It was a natural progression due to the F&B background, just much more individualized with specific clients rather than the general public. I absolutley LOVE it! I left casual dining after over 35 years working here in Huntsville. I left “it” 2 months ago and have NEVER been happier!! I have a quality of life now that I never had. I will never go back! I'm 35. I've worked in restaurants since I've been 14. Started as a cashier then started cooking. Then went to serving, bartending went to manager for a bit. I've done other work on top of restaurants as sexond jobs like landscaping, remodeling, handyman, built pools. Got health problems and can't do hard manual labor anymore so I'm serving currently.

ive finally said screw it and am back in school to get an associates and finally leave the industry. its always playing a social hierarchy in some way, unforgiving in so many ways, and guaranteed burn out. still in it till I get it but its easier to do knowing im going to get out soon enough!! its hard making such a big life decision
