@morgsvstheworld: Someone sent me a DM saying that since I was still posting on social media, I wasn’t grieving my friend properly….woah😭 I’d love to open this up as a friendly discussion about grief. Grief comes in many different forms and it makes its attack on its own timeline. When we see someone working or laughing or sharing a normal moment, do we assume they’re okay? If I’m not visibly falling apart, does that open the question whether my grief is real? I wish people understood how much can happen in a person’s life after they put their phone down. I’ve been around several friends who are all grieving the passing and I have not seen ANY ONE of them cry. Not once. Instead we have all shared laughter & memories together. But instead, we’ve openly talked to teach other about the times we did cry, about how hard it hurt us physically. Some of us got headaches, some of us couldn’t even see because our eyes were so swollen, some of us curled into balls in the shower. But even my closest friends, who I’ve been around basically the entire past week, I have not physically seen ‘grieve’ in a sad way. Aside from that, social media is my job & I have commitments and deadlines that don’t disappear when a sudden change happens. I know I post a lot of private things, but I don’t post every single private moment and I honestly shouldn’t have to display my deepest pain to prove that my grief is real. I am taking this time to enjoy the memories I made with my friend and creating more memories with others to honor his passing. These new memories don’t have to be sad. Going to Disney was SO much fun and genuinely was the entertainment I needed after such a painful week. But me being happy at Disney World or posting this video doesn’t mean I’m not grieving. I love to laugh, damnit😂 I’m going to laugh in any situation I can because life is too sad to not find the joy in things. Why do we feel entitled to measure someone else’s grief by what they share with us? Why do we assume that continuing to live means someone has stopped mourning? Let’s remember that this is social media, you only get to see what someone chooses to share. I love my best friend, I alway will. And if there’s one thing I know about him, he would want me to do nothing but laugh and be happy in those pocket of moments when I can. So F off & let me enjoy Disney! @Disney Parks @Disney @Southwest Airlines
