holy shit. I just talked about this. it ties in with having expectations; too high or too low, can ruin any experience that you're meant to have/go through, having that image of "be the change you want to see" and starting to perform in the way that you think you want to see people act we get lost in that mentality. when in reality we need to be thinking about how we want to feel in regards to the change that comes from us working on ourselves on our shadow. so the more that we work on our core trauma that we are holding on to that affects us still and the more that we actually get through it we start to notice that change. however, people don't change themselves exactly, but it's how they respond to others that allows that change to happen. our reaction to the action that gives traction to what we are trying to reach. if that makes any freaking sense. like we can say all we want that we want the world to be a better place. how exactly do we do that? we start within ourselves. we don't start going out there and acting the way we want other people to be like, we go and start acting the way we want to be. not the way we want to be treated because that within itself is a reaction to others actions, in this case: our own. so unless we start acting the way we want to need us to act we won't see any change happening. we're just going to keep seeing masks of how we wish we might look instead of doing the work going out there and showing people I no longer react the way I used to and that causes a chain reaction for other people to be like damn. maybe I don't need to react like that in the way that I used to because people noticed when you react differently they won't notice much else. but people definitely notice reactions. so if there was a situation where somebody typically reacted with unregulated emotions, like a meltdown, people would notice when you start to react differently because it genuinely changes you. it changes not just the reaction but how you go about it afterwards it starts to reach other parts of you that are still in the shadow.
