Very well said! I haven’t seen anything to convince me that we are better off with AI. If you look at who is developing and championing AI - it is those who stand to make money off of it. And they provide zero justification for the environmental destruction it is causing or for the very real potential for catastrophic events instigated by AI. We need to be loud about this.

As someone who studied sociology, I don’t think we know the answers. I think the average person has a sixth grade reading level and has no idea what sociology and the social constructs around us actually are and why some of them are harmful and not. We literally have never educated the masses on it. Intentionally.

Could religious institutions, like the Catholic Church, help world issues? I ask because they’re incentivized via God to contribute to the building of infrastructure and aid (the Catholic Church has donated millions in humanitarian assistance to Gaza/West Bank for example)? Of course no institution is perfect but they are genuinely commanded by God to be a good neighbor or else face eternal punishment.
