I struggled in isolation for 16 months without Robbie. And finally realized he would want me to get out and do things so I got a job which has turned out to be great.Best thing I did for myself.

Thank you, well said. It’s been a month that I lost my beautiful wife of 43 years. Not only am I broken hearted but I feel very much lonely without her. My nights are the worst and the most painful.

You are right. Lonely is not a big enough word. I try to explain it by saying it’s just an overwhelming yearning. But, I don’t even think that that is accurate.

I was/am so lonely that I joined a men’s workshop group - nothing more depressing than sitting around with lonely old men - I stopped- I even started donating blood plasma so I could chat to the nurses every two weeks- forcing myself adds to the level of feeling lonely

I force myself to get out, because I can hear my wife pushing me. She was an extrovert and I was more of an introvert. She always got me out and involved in the community. I’m currently in group grief therapy for spouse loss. My group of 10 understands each other, which makes me feel less alone
