How different it is from Goebekle Tepe? I mean, if my understanding is correct, Goebekle was remarkable for NOT being a living quarter; it was more of a congregating place. I noticed you mentioned a kitchen area here at Karahan. Do archeologists know if it was a place where people settled and took up permanent residence? This keeps getting more and more fascinating! And thank you for making this Pakistani man take a tour from the comfort of his bed.

Are the horizontal layer lines always obvious and out in the open? I imagine it would be pretty easy for any kind of vegetation or wind erosion to smooth over the top surfaces to make them look the same. Or is it just something like "if you can see the layers it's definitely natural, if you can't, there's *a chance* it's man-made"?

I wonder why ancient civilizations coming after this one did not explore these vestiges before. Peoples have roamed these area for more than 2000 years, among them were herodotus, the plinys, josephus, ibn batuta and more others.
