Sunless :

Alright, beginner silversmiths, this one’s for you! 🔥 If you’re just getting started and trying to figure out which torch to buy, you’ve probably heard of the Blazer Big Shot GT8000. It’s one of the most commonly recommended beginner torches out there, so I figured we’d put it to work! I personally use a Smith Little Torch and an acetylene setup, but I’ve started picking up different beginner-friendly torches to test them out and show you exactly what they’re capable of. In this video, we’re soldering THREE different bezels using the chip soldering method, and I’m walking you through everything from lighting and adjusting your torch to finding the hottest part of the flame, controlling your heat, and getting that solder to flow. We’ll crank the heat up, work on keeping the flame moving for even heating, and even zoom in so you can watch the solder wick right up into the bezel seam. I’ll deliberately stop the solder before it finishes flowing, then heat it back up so you can see exactly what happens. The biggest takeaway? Don’t be intimidated by your torch! Learn how it behaves, get comfortable moving that flame, and understand what your solder is doing. You’ll be surprised how forgiving this little torch can be. Hopefully this helps a few of you beginner silversmiths gain a little confidence behind the torch! And if you’ve got questions, drop them in the comments. I’ll do my best to answer them! 🔥 #Silversmithing #JewelryMaking #BeginnerSilversmith
