When I was 22 I made sauce and over salted it. I took the advice of my Italian friend and put a potato in it, needless to say by the time my boyfriend got home there were 8 potatoes in the sauce

"mom if you're using soy sauce you don't need to add salt" is what I would say if I was brave enough to tell my mom how to cook.

Could you talk about how we can use bacon grease? My grandma always had a tin with bacon grease and she used it for cooking...just not sure what it's useful for and flavoring.

I was so tired one time I almost added sprinkles instead of garlic. Learned to keep my herbs and spices separate from my cake stuff after that. 😂

If you mess up and overcook noodles you can do this as well. Pour cold water on your noodles after straining and let the sauce cool down a bit before adding. The sauce will be warm enough to warm the noodles and the noodles won’t turn into mush. Cold water will also help the noodles to not stick together like glue due to rinsing starch.

My most hilarious screw-up: bulk baking banana bread, grabbed the salt instead of the sugar… luckily I tasted the batter before putting the loaves in the oven. I wasted a lot of ingredients that day. [Tears of joy]

the potato will not absorb salt. they have literally tested this scientifically. boiling potato absorbs very little salt.
