@hiphopofthe90s: Kanye put everything into this verse 🙏 Jeezy released “Put On” in 2008 as the lead single from his third studio album, “The Recession.” Produced by Drumma Boy, the record paired Jeezy’s commanding delivery with a version of Kanye that sounded noticeably different from the one heard on “Graduation.” The collaboration traced back to an earlier favor. Jeezy had allowed Kanye to keep his ad-libs on “Can’t Tell Me Nothing,” and Kanye later returned the favor by appearing on “Put On.” On the verse, Kanye directly addressed the loss of his mother, Donda West, while offering an early preview of the direction he would explore months later on “808s & Heartbreak.” His use of Auto-Tune added another layer to the performance and helped carry the emotion behind his words. “Put On” later earned a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group, while Kanye’s deeply personal verse became one of the record’s defining moments. Is this Kanye’s greatest feature verse? 🤔⁉️ #rap #hiphop #rapmusic #hiphopmusic #kanyewest
