@cinematic_tension: Standing near the front-of-house mix desk inside the open-air Greek Theatre, the night sky vibrated as two legendary horn sections took the stage together. The second Chicago and Earth, Wind & Fire merged their massive, powerhouse grooves into a joint rendition of "25 or 6 to 4" and "Shining Star," the capacity crowd erupted. Blending rock, funk, soul, and jazz-fusion into an unstoppable wall of sound, over twenty master musicians transformed the Los Angeles hillside into a transcendent musical celebration. Captured live during their co-headlining 2004 summer tour at the iconic Greek Theatre, this performance captured two Hall of Fame acts at the absolute summit of live collaboration. Trading vocal leads, sharing rhythm sections, and locking together in immaculate multi-part horn arrangements, they delivered a high-energy masterclass in American popular music. Live at the Greek Theatre Set List: Beginnings In the Stone Saturday in the Park Sing a Song 25 or 6 to 4 / Shining Star (Followed by a massive, multi-group encore finale) Backstage Notebook: Massive Brass Array Management: Balancing a 6-man combined brass section alongside two full rhythm teams required FOH engineers to carefully notch dynamic EQ pockets between 1.5kHz and 3.5kHz, keeping horn stabs razor-sharp without masking the lead vocals. Dual-Drum Kit Separation: To lock down Earth, Wind & Fire's percussion engine alongside Chicago's driving kit without creating low-end mud, soundboard architects applied tight high-pass filtering at 80Hz and fast peak compression on both kick drums.
