I think reading and learning is prioritised in Islam as it humbles you. Once you think you've mastered something, the framework of seeking further intellectual exposes you to new concepts etc, which humbles you repeatedly by making you aware of the vast, ocean of knowledge untouched

Bedouins have lots of wisdom, sharp minds, and resilience. Their lifestyle require them to be that way to survive the harsh living conditions.

You start off about intellect of heart but then talk about praying 5 times zakat etc. That's not intellect of heart in the Muslim world. It's actually the very small gestures, the adab, the sense of sacrifice, community, hospitality, brotherhood, the wisdom of managing life events, treatment of elders, respect for aged, the knowledge that we are insignificant and this life is temporary

Becoming an intellectual of the mind is easy by reading and studying literature and speech. How do we become an intellectual of the heart though?

When life has fewer distractions, there's more room to sit with your thoughts, look at the sky, and reflect on why you're here. There's a reason every prophet herded sheep at some point 🐑

Bedouin life in the desert is the best education you will ever get. It is no accident that ALL Prophets spent time in the desert before receiving revelation and prophethood.

Islam wouldn’t be what it is if it wasn’t carried and exemplified by bedouins and nomads, they truly embody Islam ihsan and iman

I’m watching the series Ertugrul which has me thinking about this a lot. The Muslims back then had such an intense and deep faith despite a lack of “education” but it was all in their heart. We have access to all the information in the world on the internet with a single click but most of us are spirituality weak.

This reminds me of the story narrated about Imam Al-Razi when his student told an old lady that he had 1000 evidences for the proof of God’s existence

The mystics and sufis as well as the ahlal bayt covered this. Understanding the importance in heart matters. Nahjul Balagha and some of the works of Ghazali address this.
