it's not a license it's a certificate. and certificate doesn't necessarily mean less than. it's a great accomplishment but let's call it what it actually is besides the FAA recognizes it as a certificate!!!

Only the strong survive, that’s why the ones who do get paid so much.

80??!! Sorry but that’s lousy instruction. I actually DID have one student do it in 40 (that “once in a lifetime” student). But the average for my students to get a PPL (4000 hrs as CFI) was around 60 hours, and I consider myself a very thorough instructor who produced strong pilots.

my students were ready for solo within 8 hours, check ride ready around 35 hrs, and only 1 out of 10 didnt make it.

Absolutely true. They quote 45 hours and you set a threshold in your brain that if you pass 45 hours you’re a bad pilot and it demotivates you

Your CFI has more control over when you finish than you do.

I bought a 150j and got my license for less than 5k.In the most expensive country on the globe, Canada. Why get a ppl if you don't own a plane?

I did my check ride at 40.5 hours. Any flight school or CFI that tells you that you aren’t ready at 40~ hours, is either milking you or you have not played enough video games as a kid to manage to stick decent landings.
