I'm so confused with the people saying "but they didnt make him being from sumeru important to his identity!" to justify not seeing him as poc because 1) thats completly false; when you look at Dottore's emotional complexity rather than his goals and achievements/crimes, most of it ties back to Sumeru or his lack of family. So saying him being from Sumeru didn't matter is just stupid because you're obviously not a fan of his character so what would you know about what's important to him? 2) They're acting like the other sumerian characters aren't as white as paper for the most part. And did they expect Zandik to sing Sumeru's national hymn or something? None of the other Sumeru characters truly had "being from sumeru" as an important factor aside from Candace, Cyno and Nefer. The rest just happened to be in Sumeru and their story wouldve unfolded exactly the same way if they're been anywhere else. Like Kaveh's father dying and his mother's leaving did not need to happen in Sumeru. Nefer withstanding micro agressions because she looks so pale as someone from the Desert makes the sumerian identity truly relevant to her. The hate on dottore and his fans is just so forced because we have Rhinedottir that's even worse than him and yet she gets glazed and called mommy all day so I know not to take some of tge haters seriously because they're just hypocrites 🤷🏻♀️
