The BMW P button has been a thing for a looong time now.. on the neue klasse models it’s entirely gone, it’s fused with the parking brake switch. The car just “decides” when park is appropriate lol

I had a 430i base convertible as a rental for a month back in like 2017 when my Golf whacked a deer. The windscreen was still in the wrapper. Installed it and loved the car. Black/black, like this one. Would not be my choice of colors, but it worked. The ZF8 was sublime. The engine stop/start, too. It was ugly to me. I don’t like retractable hardtops. But it gave me a month of convertible fun, zippy af, and insane fuel economy. I’ve never owned an automatic BMW, only a manual one. But I think that shifter is the best one out there that isn’t conventional. And the party trick of having it in sport or manual, and it motorizes itself back into the central position when selecting park is fun. Oh! And I loved and miss the self-centering turn signal stalk.
