@jaredjonesorlandorealtor: What is OUC's new DemandLevel pricing, and how will it affect your bill? Starting with the November 2026 statement, Orlando Utilities Commission is shifting most residential customers to DemandLevel pricing, a new structure that charges you based on your single highest 15-minute window of energy use in the previous month. You'll be sorted into one of three monthly tiers: $5 for 0 to 8 kW, $10 for 8 to 12 kW, and $15 for 12 kW or more, and to help offset it, OUC is lowering the per-kilowatt-hour rate by 12.5%. Here's what matters in real life: your tier is set by whether you're running the AC, dryer, oven, pool pump, and EV charger all at the same time, so even one brief spike can bump you into a higher tier for the whole next month. The good news is your tier resets every month, and OUC estimates about 44% of customers land in the $5 tier, 45% in the $10 tier, and 11% in the $15 tier, with most seeing little to no overall change. The strategy is simple behavior modification, staggering your big appliances flattens peak demand and helps OUC delay costly grid upgrades. Will you start staggering your appliance use to stay in the lowest tier? 📲 Thinking of buying or selling? price gauging by over charging more then you use in a month. paying for 20000 kwatts when you might use 10000

It’s a scammy marketing ruse in order for them to market “lower pricing“. Because they are lowering their pricing, but the surge pricing penalty will offset and nobody is going to have a lower bill.

I still prefer OUC over Duke Energy. My bills have been SUBSTANTIALLY lower when I moved to my new residence in an area serviced by OUC. I’ll never move to a property serviced under Duke Energy. These things matter!
