The ironic thing that scene is also trying to show is people’s negative attitudes to films compared to others hobbies. This scene is the first we’ve ever seen Kitjo read a book, it’s also the first time he tells Lenny “all you do is watch films.” Seems like he’s forgotten he owns a film store after reading one page from a book. It’s also showing how unhappy everyone is with themselves. Lenny takes the comment negatively; Kitjo wishes he was doing something else, etc.
