what's the apple cider vinegar for in the water? What does it do for the chicks? 😊

chicken manure is priceless for your garden.. dont throw it!!! literally scatter it into grass, under bushes, pots, flower beds.. compost bin for next spring.

We used to clean ours out weekly by removing the top layer of poop then once a month completely removing the bedding and cleaning the beds etc.

What do you do with their waste in that tub? Is it good for plants?

I'm OTT and take the poop out every day if I can but I have the smaller coop - I line my bucket with garden waste bags and then my dad puts it on his allotment, apparently it's really good for the garden!

Did you say every 4 weeks? I clean mine out every other day. Just poo pick. I have hemp bedding and a cat litter scoop so just scoop out the dirty bedding. It doesn't really need a deep clean. Just a wipe over once a week.

Happy birthday for tomorrow! As a side note, please please clean them out more often. Once a month is fine if you’re doing a deep litter method or getting most of the poo out each week without fully cleaning it. By the looks it doesn’t look like it (?) but this isn’t good for them to be surrounded by that for a whole month. Maybe switch to every two weeks if you can? Or even just removing the poo and not doing a full clean?x

I have ducks in a coop but they dont have a grill as they dont roost. They're bedded down on unibed and I spot clean them daily with a brush and shovel and fully gut and clean them either fornightly or when bedding runs low whatever comes first
I recommend getting your bedding from a horse or agricultural shop its way cheaper than the chicken branded bedding 🥰

If you line those trays with newspaper (the Waitrose weekender mag fits them perfectly and it’s feee) you don’t have to wash them👍

Low maintenance at different times of the year. But this is depending on what coop you have also need to monitor for Red mite and etc in the summer ..
