QQQI vs GPIQ — which covered call ETF is actually better? I currently own 220 shares of QQQI, but when I sat down and compared the numbers, I discovered something I wasn’t necessarily expecting: GPIQ beat QQQI in some very important areas. GPIQ has a significantly lower expense ratio, and over the period I reviewed, it also delivered a stronger total return. QQQI, however, continues to produce more monthly income — and that is exactly why I originally bought it. So am I selling QQQI and moving into GPIQ? No. In this video, I explain why. We’ll compare: • QQQI vs GPIQ fees • Monthly income and distributions • Total return • Covered call strategies • How each ETF handles Nasdaq-100 exposure • Why QQQI can produce more income but sacrifice more upside • Why GPIQ may capture more market growth • How QQQ compares with BOTH income ETFs • Why I recently turned on dividend reinvestment for QQQI • What the Goldman Sachs deal could mean for QQQI investors • The two changes that could actually make me sell QQQI The bigger lesson, though, isn’t simply deciding whether QQQI or GPIQ is the “better” ETF. After investing for roughly 30 years, I’ve learned that almost every investment needs a specific job. Growth has a job. Stability has a job. Income has a job. QQQI sits inside my income bucket, and its job is to produce cash flow. That’s why a fund outperforming it over a particular period doesn’t automatically mean I should sell. And if maximum total return were my only goal? I wouldn’t choose QQQI or GPIQ. I’d be looking much harder at something like QQQ. That’s an important distinction that I think gets lost in a lot of dividend ETF and covered call ETF discussions. I share my real portfolio, real positions, wins, losses, dividends, and investing decisions on this channel. If you enjoy following an investor who is willing to show you when one of his investments wins AND when it loses, consider subscribing. And after this video, watch: “You Don’t Need 10 ETFs, You Need 3 Buckets” That video explains the investing bucket strategy behind how I build my portfolio and why I don’t judge every investment by the same metric.
