Look at the progress one of our team members has made with Papi in just 2 days of knowing him!!! He was screaming unprovoked when you would walk past his kennel and strongly dislike being moved from one kennel to the next for cleaning. The first day he required Pawportunities Team Member Jen to use bite gloves all day. The first day she spent with Papi was at our clinic so he could be neutered (which will hopefully help!). The second day Jen was with Papi, he required bite gloves in the morning so he could be moved to a clean kennel. But- 15 minutes before close on that second day, an amazing transformation happened! He solicited her attention, instead of behaving in a manner to keep her away. When Jen opened the door he gave her a kiss on the chin, and climbed out onto her!❤️🙌🏻 Papi’s third morning with Jen, his tail is wagging, he’s smiling, and he climbed right out into her arms again! I think the smile on his face pretty much sums it up! We knew there was a dog inside Papi that desperately wants to be loved! He just needed to have a few days with us to be able to show it. He still needs a foster home. We really think if you give him a few days to decompress in a home, he will come around quickly, and become the loving we know he’s been hiding! Papi is NOT a bad dog. Papi is a being that has lost the world as he knows it, and is scared as a result. He is reacting appropriately. Think about how you would react if you lost everything you ever knew? Your home, your belongings, your environment, familiar people, your family- devastating wouldn’t even begin to describe how at a loss you would feel.
